Krillion is a free daily trivia game where the goal is not just to be right, but to be right in a way nobody else is. Everyone gets the same seven prompts each day, and the rarer your correct answer, the deeper you sink — and the higher you score.
The rules in 30 seconds
- Seven prompts a day, the same for every player worldwide.
- 25 seconds per prompt to name one thing that fits, such as “Name a deodorant brand”.
- One dive per day. There are no second chances on the official Daily Dive.
- Rare answers score big, obvious ones barely count. Each accepted answer has a fixed rarity tier and point value.
- Maximum score: 700 (seven prompts × 100 points). Your total is shown as dive depth.
How Krillion scoring works
Every answer in the official answer set belongs to one of six tiers:
| Tier | Points | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| One in a Krillion | 100 | The hand-picked gem answer for the prompt. |
| Deep Cut | 85 | Correct and obscure — most of the long tail lands here. |
| Rare | 60 | Known to many people, but rarely said first. |
| Schooler | 30 | A common answer that plenty of players give. |
| Too Clever | 15 | The go-to “obscure” pick that isn’t actually obscure. |
| Plankton | 10 | The obvious answer almost everyone types first. |
How are the point values determined? According to the official FAQ, answer sets are built by aggregating sources such as dictionaries, wikis and encyclopedias. Rarity is then scored either mechanically, against a database of how often a word or name shows up in everyday reading and writing, or — for prompts that can’t be reduced to a number — with LLM assistance plus a manual pass. The single 100-point “One in a Krillion” answer is hand-picked for fun, not only rarity, which is why it is sometimes less obscure than a few Deep Cuts.
The one tier that surprises people is Too Clever: the famous “obscure” pick that so many players reach for that it is not obscure at all.
When does Krillion reset?
The Daily Dive resets every day at 04:00 UTC — midnight Eastern Daylight Time, 9 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time and 5 a.m. in London during summer time. Every player’s streak and daily prompts roll over at the same moment. Our Krillion answers today page shows a live countdown.
Why wasn’t my answer accepted?
Krillion only accepts answers that appear in its curated set for that prompt. If a fair answer is missing, the creator’s explanation is simply that a source was missed. Read the prompt carefully, too: qualifiers such as “pinks don’t count” or “must be officially called a state or province” narrow what is valid.
Tips for a deeper dive
- Discard your first idea. It is almost always Plankton or Schooler.
- Go sideways within the category. Sub-genres, regional brands and historical entries are thinly picked.
- Use the alphabet. Scan for answers starting with less common letters.
- Don’t freeze. A 30-point answer beats a timeout, so type something before the clock ends.
- Practise. The official game gives one dive a day; Krillion Unlimited lets you train the same skill with fresh prompts as often as you like.
Who made Krillion?
Krillion is an independent game made by a solo developer and launched in summer 2026 at krillion.io. Its tagline echoes the phrase “one in a krillion”, popularised by the krill Will in Happy Feet Two. Krillion Daily is an unofficial fan site and is not affiliated with the game.
